a pleasant and enjoyable pint of oktoberfest here, on the lighter side as the style goes, but well executed, traditional in the right ways, fresh and clean tasting, well lagered, and perfect for drinking out on their wonderful patio here at the brewery on a fall afternoon! the unique feature here is that this has a little maple syrup in it. sure its mostly fermented out to the extent that you might not know its in here if you didnt know, but its a neat little autumnal touch that makes this distinctly american, as much as its still german in all the right ways for the style, and i like that this isnt sweet. there is warming nuttiness to the grain, lightly toasted and with some minerals underneath, simple but right, and the yeast is very old world to me, fits the beer perfectly. there is a nice smoothness to this as i drink it, and then a brisk finish, almost refreshing for a malt driven beer. i think this is really professionally made and just unique enough to be cool too. all of the beer in here was excellent, well ahead of the small town usa brewery curve, and its a rad spot to hang out at as well. really stoked on these guys, and expect their beer to get some attention here moving forward. this is a great take on an oktoberfest.
