Life Of Sin (Buffalo Trace Barrel)

In April 2020, production was slowed and life was uncertain. We had a lot of time and excess grain on our hands. We put a lot of this and that together to create our strongest beer to date, and one that we could let age until things opened up again. Agave syrup, dextrose, and dark brown sugar were used in addition to a variety of crystal and dark malts to boost ABV and add complexity and aid drinkability. We filled a Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrel with a portion of this beer and aged it for 17 months. The barrel treatment emphasized the sweet caramel flavor of the base stout, while allowing the overall profile to mellow and meld. With minimal heat and spice added from the barrel, this one is as smooth and dangerous as they come.
