Presentation: 12 oz. brown bottle with no dates. Served in a Rastal Craft Master Grand.
Appearance: The dense, one finger head stays around for a long time and leaves behind a substantial foam layer that stays until the end and a lot of beautiful, thick lacing that covers the entire glass. It's a clear, bright gold color with a hint of an amber hue in the right light.
Smell: The aroma is faint and subtle. There's fruity lemon and orange peels and some pretty prominent earthy notes of damp grass and pine in the background as well.
Taste: It starts off with orange, lemon, starfruit and even a hint of blackberries. An earthy, grassy taste balances out the fruit really well. The bitterness is very evident and stronger towards the end but it never gets overwhelming or uncomfortable.
Mouthfeel: It's quite light, smooth and refreshing but with a subtle creaminess and distinct substance that's just absent in your typical American pale ale.
Overall: A welcome addition to the Hurricaned family, this year's Comet Edition harvest ale does not disappoint. It looks great, tastes great and has an awesome texture too.
