Kros Strain Brewing "Rules Don't Apply"
12 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
$1.99 @ Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits, Omaha, NE
Notes via stream of consciousness: A hazy yellow gold body is topped by two finger's width of big bubbled bright white foam. The aroma is sweetish, bready, a little spicy, and livened by banana. The spiciness is clearly clove-like in the flavor, and there's less banana than I thought there would be, perhaps because there's some lemon to it as well. The malt isn't as sweetish as I thought it would be either but it remains bready and wheaty. It's a little bit like a hefeweizen with some witbier mixed in. It's interesting, refreshing, and charming. There's not a lot of bitterness to it but there is some acidity and that helps to dry it in the finish, leaving a touch of banana and a swirl of clove-like spiciness lingering shortly. In the mouth it's light-medium in body and delicately zesty on the tongue with a moderate carbonation. That, at least partially, explains why the head dropped rather quickly, and why there's absolutely no lacing left behind. Unfortunately that hurts its scoring. Beyond that it's really rather quite nice and I think it would be a great summer beer.

Appearance: Pours a clear goldenstraw color with a thin head that fades to a collar; spotty lacing; marking the score down as it doesn't look like a Hefeweizen
Smell: Wheat, clove and banana tones with a squeeze of lemon
Taste: Tart wheat flavors forward with hint of lemon; banana and clove emerge in the middle and some bubblegum in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A nice beer which I would characterize as Hefeweizen adjacent as it doesn't have the look, mouthfeel or strong banana tones I seek in the style
Thanks, xKURTx, for the opportunity
