Pours a dark burgundy-brown with a turbid, murky translucency. Head is two fingers of off-white foam. Aroma is fig, raisins, dark fruit, molasses, and liquorice. Toasty, bready, and caramelly malts stack to build some support, while barrel, char, and brandy further build out this heavy and deep aroma. Flavor profile is raisins, fig, toffee, molasses, and caramel. Brandy soaked roasty and toasty malts bring forward a little booze alongside barrel and char. Mouth feel is thick. Texture has a slight fuzz to it. Overall, full barrel character, but a sweet, sugary leaning barleywine - ehm - 'barrelwine'.
