From bottle into Henna glass.
My wife said it tasted like straight up alcohol. I thought it was shockingly smooth for a beer that's been aged for 22 months and is 15+% abv. Aroma is mostly chocolate and cocoa. Sweetness and richness is clearly going to come through and it does in the flavor. Same chocolate and cocoa, but with a bit of nuttiness as well once it warms. Hazelnut is light, but you can tell it's there if you search for it. Sticky sweet, and medium-thick mouthfeel.
Overall, this should have a lot more barrel presence (for 22 month aged) and abv indicates that should be the case, but I'm guessing that the hazelnut and cocoa (pastry side of it) is balancing out the bourbon heat and sweetness, and vice-versa. It's a nice beer and I enjoyed splitting it.

Oily black body, no head. Let this one warm up, roasted hazelnut emerges from rich chocolate and vanilla with warm bourbon and wood. Taste mirrors this, but the chocolate is more fudgy in the taste and bourbon is warmer. Was hoping it would meld more than it did, but the various elements are all potent. Feel is rich, warm, and bordering on syrupy, a sipper for sure.
