I always find it odd when a brewery decides to take a bunch of adjuncts and barrel ages a beer when the base beer is a Porter instead of a Stout. That being said, I like these odd little ones, as they usually have a tighter execution that don’t leave you feeling like shit after finishing it. Let’s see if this one can do the same
Pours a very dark brown with a finger of brown head that fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
And it may just be because of the thin body here that you can smell the 14% of this rather than being masked in sweetness. I’m picking up on aromas of hot bourbon, molasses, toasted coconut, earthy cinnamon, medium roast coffee, sweet vanilla, milk chocolate, and burnt caramel
Go figure, in taste it’s quite hard to detect the abv, I’d have guessed 9% if I didn’t know. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting chocolate fudge, burnt caramel, molasses, sweet coconut, earthy bourbon, and light cherry. The swallow brings notes of earthy cinnamon, toasted coconut, milk chocolate, medium roast coffee, toasted oak, earthy bourbon, caramel, and light vanilla
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes mostly dry and just a touch boozy
This is nothing amazing, but still an absolute all around good beer

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
