We team up with our buddies over at Feast City to brew a Gose with Mango & chile spice provided by their friends at Big Mich! The end result is a beautiful lightly tart ale with a rush of Mango, slight saltiness and spice.

Pours like a lightly carbonated, pulpy juice (spoiler alert, this is also what it tastes like). I dig the concept, and nearly always prefer breweries going the gose route with their heavily fruit puree'd beers instead of kettle-soured, highly acidic berliners. That said, the fruit juice is totally overwhelming the components of a gose, as well as whatever chile spice was added. It's not overwhelmingly sweet or anything, but I would have preferred a well-constructed gose with light mango-chile accents.

Tons of mango on the nose, subtle spice, taste follows the same, not much pepper, no burn. Very tropical and fruity, delicious!

thanks to Ken for sharing a can from his purchase
L: mango nectar colored ale, light orange head disappears quickly
S: fresh mango juice, peach, nectarine
T: very sweet; juicy mango, peach, orange, grapefruit, nectarine, pine, mild spice in the background
F: fuller body, ample carbonation, tart and a bit sour finish
O: huge juicy flavors, but overly sweet. I was hoping for more spiciness to come through to cut the sweetness, but that didn’t happen
