When you think that the world doesn't need any additional sour ales, the beer world gives us More. A German-styled sour wheat ale with the jabanese influence of black lime, kabosu and sea salt for a somewhat classic taste with some modern upgrades to pull away from the pack.
More Brewing's Monogatari pours cloudy goldenrod and carrying an arid frothy white cap halfway through the session. With the zeal and zest of citrus, cider, wine and sea air, the ale kicks off with sourdough character laced with light wafer, cracker and tepid agave sweetness.
As the flavors unfold on the middle palate, the drying sweetness opens up a succinctly tart taste with the overcast of lime, lemon, green apple, white grape and gooseberry. As the tartness rises to a crisp and refreshing acidity, the otherwise clean taste follows with notions of damp burlap rounded salinity and citrus peel.
Lighter, crisp and refreshing, the sour ale finishes off-clean and with a weathered oak character heading into a mild grapefruit finish. A certain thirst quencher that's slightly off on brightness, juiciness and dryness.
