Aroma is spicy/dank hops and mild syrup sweetness/small hint of vinegar. The flavor is fruit, malts/grains, slight tropical fruit/syrup sweetness and a complex/classic WCIPA citrus/bitter hop finish.

16 oz can into a pint glass. Mostly clear golden-orange color with two fingers of foam. Piney hops and orange peel aroma. Piney, resin-y hop flavor with pithy orange citrus. Flavorful but a little more bitter than I was expecting. Medium-full feel.

8/25/24 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Purchased at store temperature on May 30, 2024 at Beer on the Wall Park Ridge for $3.41 including tax. 16 oz with no canned date, distributed to Beer on the Wall the week ended 5/24/24. 7.0% ABV India Pale Ale. Amarillo, Centennial, CTZ and Simcoe Hops. Brewed & Packaged by More Brewing Company - Huntley, Illinois & Villa Park, Illinois.

Appearance: Poured about half the can poured into a pint tulip glass. A bit murky golden base, mild sustained carbonation, generous bright creamy head leaves spotty clumps of lacing and a bubbly creamy cover over most of the base. 4.25

Aroma: Blend of tropical pineapple and mango, getting pine and citrus as well with some dankness lurking. Strong and really nice. 4.25

Taste: Mostly consistent with aroma, though citrus and pine take the lead with a nice pineapple backing. The four listed hops come together well, Want to gulp down it's so good, need to finish the review in a hurry. 4.5

Mouthfeel: Medium resinous body, gentle to lightly fizzy carbonation. Easy drinking, but the ABV catches up to you in the second half. Nice bitter sweet combo balances the pour, lightly dank, sweet citrus finish. 4.25

Overall: I expected a solid pour with the hop combo, but this exceeded expectations. By memory my favorite new IPA and among my favorites so far this year, will pick this up with confidence on future drops. Among my favorite locals at this point. What a Great New Beer Sunday #1018 and end to the weekend! 4.5

From a single tall boy into an extra tall Dangerous Man shaker, pours a slightly hazy dull dandelion yellow, with 1 finger of big puffy foamy head. Nose is crackery malt, a touch of caramel, piney and generally/vaguely fruity (tropical and citrus) hops. Taste follows the nose, though I get a little spice, too, and the notes are a little less muted, and the malt seems more bready than crackers: I get lemon, grapefruit rind, orange, wet hay, a little peppery spice. Mouthful is a little watery, moderately full, moderately lively with a little but not too much bitterness or oiliness. It’s enjoyable, but I find it a little muddled…I’d drink it again, but wouldn’t seek it out.

16oz can
thanks to Ken for giving me a can to try!
L: clear golden body; foamy off-white head
S: citrus, pine, pale grain with a touch of caramelization
T: nutty pale malt, light caramel, pungent pine, grapefruit rind, melon, lemongrass, white grape
F: medium body, very resinous, ample carbonation, pungently bitter finish
O: I wanted to like this more, but in comparison to other world-class [west coast] IPAs, this falls short

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a lightly hazy, medium golden amber with a big, four finger head, the consistency of meringue at first, unusually stiff. Aroma of pale malt, dank and faintly citrus and tropical fruit hops, mixed tropical and citrus fruit. Flavor follows, with pale malt, dank, citrus and tropical fruit hops, grapefruit, vague mixed tropical fruit, pine and dankness in the finish with moderate residual bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A satisfactory, but somewhat unfocussed IPA. The pine notes are appropriate for the name, but the fruit character is a bit muddled. More of a NE (but not that hazy) style than a West Coast. Satisfactory, but does not really stand out.

Clear, light gold body; excellent carbonation; thick and rocky white head; spidery fingers of lacing knit across the inside of the glass. Decent aroma, fairly complex; a bit of tropical fruit blended with an herbal, grassy quality; mild pineapple. A light biscuit flavor anchors the taste and accented with a moderate hop bitterness; pine resin; mild pepper presence. Medium body; semi-smooth yet also with a bit of a tingling roughness on the palate; moderately dry.

All in all, a decent west coast styled IPA.

A: The beer is relatively clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left lots of lacing down the sides of the glass and a large patch of bubbles on the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose - oranges and lemons seem to stand out in particular.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional hints of grapefruit. The hops contribute a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: While this beer is all about citrusy aromas and flavors, it is complex with the orange, lemon, and grapefruit.
