Aroma is malts, nuts/pecans and a hint of cinnamon/whiskey. The flavor is malts, fruit, nuts/pecans, a hint of cinnamon and a very slight alcoholic burn/whiskey probably from the the high abv finish.

Purchased this on vacation in Chicago at a small store. Pours out beautiful caramel color. 1 inch foamy head that quiets down after a minute or so. Wow this smells like straight caramel praline candy. This is a great scent, very inviting. The pecans are so forward in the taste! I love how nutty this is but sooooo sweet and delicious. Cinnamon complements the flavor. This tastes almost like pecan pie or baklava. Rich caramel, sugars, nuts, cinnamon, full flavor. Absolutely delicious. Mouthfeel is medium thick with moderate carbonation. Overall this is a great barleywine. I’m actually surprised it’s an American barleywine, as it is sweet and rich and dense enough to be an English barleywine. This is probably the best American I’ve had. Awesome. Two thumbs up.

Canned 7/7/21
Adjuncted Barleywines are a dangerous game. They often walk the line between sweet and cloying, but this one sounds interesting. Candied pecans and cinnamon sounds like they shouldn’t overstep the sweetness line. Hopefully at least. Let’s crack it open and find out
Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of tan head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is pretty sweet, but not overbearing and remains rather simple. I’m picking up on aromas of maple syrup, cinnamon sugar, toasted pecan, toffee, sweet caramel, light raisin, and rum
It’s a bit sweeter in taste which I don’t love, but at least it’s a bit more expressive. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting cinnamon sugar, burnt caramel, vanilla, toasted pecan, black cherry, dark bread, raisin, and sweet rum. The swallow brings notes of toasted pecan, burnt sugar, caramel, black cherry, walnut, light vanilla, and toffee
A medium full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes just a tad sticky and drinks far below 13.8%
This one is damn solid. Nothing I’d go out of my way for, but a fun one to try

Darker brown body, lighter brown cap. You detect the cinnamon right away before realizing the gooey caramel, sugary praline, date, toffee and sugared nuts all are there too in the nose. Taste starts boozy with the cinnamon, barley and dark fruit, then has a bridge of toffee malts before ending sweet waves of caramel like a praline, wow decadent for sure. Body is warm, full, sweet but does not get even close to cloying, viscous. Great dessert barleywine. The wife loved it
