We're thrilled to announce our latest collaboration with Goose Island Beer Co. Drawing inspiration from their pioneering work in barrel-aged beer, we crafted a double barrel-aged barleywine together.
Blending our styles, we brewed a beer using a huge bill of Marris Otter and caramel malts, complemented by Belgian candi sugar and then double barrel-aged the brew, first in Elijah Craig rye barrels and then additionally in fresh, domestic white grape brandy barrerls. After its second slumber of 11 months, Tusk & Feather: Brandy emerged and we could not be happier with the results. We feel this adds an additional complexity and a bright, fruity white grape overtone to the beer to balance all the caramel.

First, this is one of those super sexy sticky barleywines where the legs are still sliding seductively down the sides a minute after you put the glass down.
What a great combination of barrels! The Brandy is more noticeable in the aroma, but there is some brown liquor and plenty of caramel-y goodness. Smells great but it tastes even better.
The grape notes add an interestingly vibrant layer to an already great barrel aged barleywine. There are just so many layers of warm, sticky goodness here. The booze, the molasses and caramel, the toasty vanilla marshmallow, the booze soaked grape pie, and so much more. This is a helluva great beer.

Cellared one year. Very dark brown opaque body with a light brown ring. Boozy smell with more rye than brandy, with molasses, barley, toffee, raisin, and plum. Taste starts with rye, toffee, molasses, and leather before gentler then expected grape brandy, plum, raisin, a touch of dry earth, and large gooey caramel. Feel is very warm and boozy with barley and malt supporting. This worked well, so if you have this in the cellar time to take it out! The wife liked it
