2019 gray wax dipped 22oz bottle from 4th anniversary release. 12.2% abv on the label.
Poured into a tulip, shows an opaque, (shall I say smoky?) darker-maple, brown body that allows some cola-colored light through when backlit. A brief cap of tight, off-white bubbles can be seen, and heard, immediately after the pour but then wafts away into the ether. The glass remains clean and lace free.
Aromas of smoke, maple, vanilla, and brown sugar, join ash, leather, peat, cocoa, and booze arising from the warming elixir to evoke a bunch of pleasant smells.
Flavors match with more emphasis on smoked malt and maple, encircled by the booze. A hint of chocolate remains on the palate.
Mouthfeel is almost creamy and just short of full, making it really easy drinking.
Overall the flavors and aromas, although easily identifiable, are too distinct and fail to coalesce. Unfortunate.

Had on tap. Feel like they were hoping the maple and chocolate would balance out the smoke. It kind of did, but still has room for improvement. I like the maple in the matrix of the malt, but otherwise it falls short of so many maple ba stouts out there. I guess if you are really, really into smoked stouts check it out
