22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Released 7/2021, had 8/7/21.
Pours near black and opaque, with a quick flash of a head and some spotty cling. Aromas of chocolate, malt, rye, some bourbon, some oak and marshmallow. Flavors of bourbon, marshmallow, roasted malt, dark chocolate, rye, vanilla, a fair amount of bitterness- maybe from both the malt and the hops. Smooth, a very good full body, appropriately carbonated.
First off, kudos to BH for making an 8% beer in bourbon barrels seem far more luxurious. The add- ins show well and the barrels are complimentary without thinning the base. Very enjoyable.
