It a rauchbier---peat smoked beer. Very good, compares favorably with Schlenkerla. Seems to be a little thin mouthfeel, but the flavors of the smoke are what sets this one apart. There is a little bitterness from some hop at first taste, then it brings on the smoke/peat with a slight drying finish. Not much of a chocolate going on, maybe more like a irish porter but with smoke added? I was pleased that it wasn't as advertised---sounded like an odd combo so i bought it. Then when I tasted it and realized it's rauchbier, I was a happy beer lover!

12 oz serving tasted in a snifter from draft at The Vine on February 18, 2018. No animals were harmed in the making of this beer! Flavors of roasted chocolate with subtle hints of peat smoke come through as chocolate bacon.
