Drinking all three of the Thunder Buds collab (Drekker collab) sbs on tap. Tasted them blind and liked the Thunder best, by a thin margin. The bourbon flavors were amazing and it has a wonderful bakers chocolate flavor. Rich, oaky, vanilla, toasted malts with a light char. Molasses and dark dried fruits. Excellent.
The rain has a really unique barrel flavor and provides a touch more raisin and fig notes. Some brown sugar as well. The base beer is so big that the rum vs bourbon isn’t extremely different. Drinks really nicely for a rum ba stout. Very surprised on this one. Very fudgey.
The lightning was my least favorite when it was first poured (I had actually guessed this to be the rum), but as it warmed it leveled out with the other two. Very nice whiskey flavors, reminiscent of rye, and bakers chocolate again. More molasses and very similar to the Thunder in general. Warming, smooth.
All three are very thick, full bodied, rich stouts. Very high quality products, very enjoyable. Back Channel is definitely an under the radar brewery.
