500ml bottle. No dating information, but purchased at the taproom.
Brown colored body, with a brief appearing tan head, which quickly disappears and leaves a clean, clear body. No lacing.
Aroma has immediate presence of iodine and salt from the Islay barrel. Also exhibits caramel dark roasted malt.
Taste is red wine sour tempered by the oaky and iodine from the Islay Scotch barrel. Sweet swirls get drawn into the oak and Scotch barrel. The end forms a sweet caramel, joined by chocolate and oak. Aftertaste is a well joined mix of malt, caramel, light chocolate, and oak. The iodine lingers until the end.
More than medium mouthfeel. Smooth and slightly sticky texture. Quiet carbonation, which is appropriate in this case.
The chocolate is unexpected (the caramel is expected) but the Islay barrel is the signifier.

On tap. Khaki tan head. Caramel brown color.
Big fan of this for it being scotch barrel aged. Peat and smoke go well with the wee heavy base. Caramel, smoke, toffee, red apple skins, dark dried fruits, chewy oak. Drinks easy for 11%. Love the scotch barrels.
