up their with the ipa they are doing as the best beers in here right now. there is nothing fancy or unique about this beer, which is true of just about everything they have brewed so far, but it is particularly well done. you cant hide flaws in straight ahead beer like this, and there are no flaws, so well done. its shiny black in color, not too thick, with a short but creamy off white head and a nice warming aroma of dark chocolate and deeply roasted unmalted barley. bitter and earthy with a suggestion of espresso, nice. the flavor is the same, simple and classic, with some good bittering hops, a charry roast aspect, chocolate an coffee notes, and a a moderate body that stretches out the finish a bit, no sweetness here hardly at all, and overall a very mellow beer to sip on. i like it being lower alcohol, you can have a few at elevation and still drive, and i like the relative smoothness, it has a nice slick feel. i could see this becoming one of their top beers, it has all the elements, simple as it is, and stands out as somewhat more dialed in than the rest of them. nice to have a cool brewery like this in georgetown now, i am excited for what is next!
