DATE: July 26, 2022... OCCASION: the first full day in Aruba down, I enjoy a gluten-free find that actually betters its original... GLASSWARE: nondescript pokal... color me impressed: a GF beer that retains its head, with a half-inch of pillowed white head that cambers to the glass's walls...its golden yellow body is clear and devoid of bubbles--hey, it gave it the head all it got! the aroma is cracker malts all the way, with metallic garden hose, weak floral esters, cereal, and lemon grass... it swallows with swiftness and a slightly bitter return--as it claims to use malts, no funky millet or buckwheat harshes the mellow... smooth enough to repeatedly tip, with enough effervescence to engage interest... the cracker and garden hose combo remains intact, rinsing with a soft, flowery ester that has me wishing this were offered in the States... I expected balancing the GF and non-GF beers in a foreign country to be difficult, but this will be a pool-side companion for the coming days for sure--though it won't replace a true lager or pilsner, it definitely will substitute for a Balashi for me without skipping a beat!
