Perfectly fine as a malty barley drink but doesn't work as a beer

Drank from the 500mL can in Kigali, Rwanda.

Smell is crackery malt with a hint of grass and earth, maybe even apple peel.

Taste is vaguely grainy with some citrus and grass shining through. Crackery finish with a little bit of astringent dryness.

This isn't too different in taste from most euro pale lagers. A little more malty and a little less grassy, which is a matter of preference. Not bad for the DD.

330 ml can, from a SPAR shop in Funchal. ABV is 0.0%. Clear golden colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of wort and grain. Thin and slightly citric mouthfeel. Flavour of wort, grain and baby porridge. Not good.

Pours clear, gold in color with one inch head. Taste is toasted malt, grass, and white sugar. Medium light body, sweet with high carbonation. Nice and clean German style beer. No frills lager but well done. I would get this again.

Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with no head whatsoever. Smell is of malts, some apples. Taste is apples up front, light malts and grains. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

The malt tastes of dried malt before being fermented. It's very sweet.

I'm guessing that this has not even been fermented. Tastes like a soft-drink (soda) made from malt, hops and water and then carbonated. It does not mention yeast on the ingredients list. If that is the case, then it should not be called 'beer'.

It's cheap but far from cheerful. Yuk!
