This New England-inspired IPL is a first cousin to Hypeasaurus Rex! And just like its cousin, this one has a beautiful tropical hop profile, thanks to the Citra and Hallertau Blanc hops.

On tap in a 20 ounce mug.

See through golden copper color with a 1f white cap. Nice rings of lacing for a lager.

Grapefruit and herbal aromas, mint. A bit dank, even.

Grapefruit rind, grassy, strong British malt flavor.

Medium bodied. Hoppy and dry finish. Lager thinness is absent.

Well done IPL. Flavorful and drinkable with an ale like character. Where’s the ratings love?!?

The most IPA tasting lager I've had! Deliciously hoppy and malty. Not as drying as the ale version to me. Use of white grapes must have helped with the subdue the grapefruit. Best lager I've ever had!

pretty deep orange/copper colored beer with a two finger beige head. The aroma is fairly malty, bready and has a bit of caramel. The taste is fairly sweet but pretty bitter. There is some grapefruit and caramel along with a lot of herbal hops. This is a bit clearer and more bitter than I expected from a NEIPA inspired beer. It was pretty good.

A: Pours a relatively clear medium to dark copper in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate amber + ruby red + burnt orange + dark golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a tow finger tall sudsy foamy tan head that reduces to a slightly mottled large patch of very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of toasted, roasted, caramel, biscuit, and bready malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. Moderate aromas of earthy, herbal, citrus/grapefruit pith, and tropical/melon hops.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of toasted, roasted, caramel, biscuit, and bready malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. Light to moderate amounts of minerality are observed. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of earthy, herbal, citrus/grapefruit pith, and tropical/melon hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which lingers through the finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Very light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Something about this beer just does not work for me - something about the hop flavors/aromas, the malts, and the underlying minerality just don't quite come together. I wanted to like it but I just did not get the NE IPA influence.
