473 mL can from the LCBO; dated 07/06/2019 and served well chilled.
Pours a pale golden colour; looks rather clear, its complexion having only a slight fogginess. One finger of frothy, sparkling white head settles off within ninety seconds' time, leaving behind a narrow collar and a thin film upon the surface. There're notes of cereal grains, green banana and grassy hops on the nose, but that's the long and short of it; maybe a few hints of yeast and clove spiciness, but nothing extravagant. Pretty typical filtered wheat ale thus far.
Not bad - this one is starting to lean in the direction of a real weissbier (vs. the North American knock-off), with suggestions of banana interspersed amongst grainy cereals and a doughy, bready, wheaty sweetness. The back end is a mixture of banana, clove and apples, concluding with a touch of grassy hops and yeastiness persisting into the aftertaste for a brief time. Light in body, with spritzy, assertive carbonation that prickles and scrubs against the palate; quite refreshing, actually, with basically no sign of the 6% whatsoever. If it weren't for that caveat, this might even be a reasonable session option.
Final Grade: 3.65, a B grade. Hometown's Organic Wild Wheat was honestly better than I expected it to be - I wasn't sold on their Southern Ale, but this is a serviceable, semi-local wheat ale that I'd be willing to return to, if I spotted it locally. Approachable without being particularly remarkable, with reasonably well-balanced flavours - the banana is almost a tad too much IMO, but not to the point where it really bugs me. Give it a try and judge for yourself.

Apple juice colour and I can see tiny bubbles rising to the top. Minimal head. Taste is pure wheat beer, refreshing and tasty. A good example of the style.

473 ml can served cold into a weizen glass. Canning date is 07/06/19, so this is pretty darn fresh. LCBO purchase for around $3.50 CDN. Certified organic... if that's your thing.
Appearance - Medium-pale golden color, slight bit of hazy, but certainly not as cloudy as some. Nearly a finger of loose white head is poured and sits on top. Retention is middling and not much in the way of lacing.
Smell - Faint grassy hops, certainly some banana and bubblegum with spicy clove. Nose isn't super robust but is pretty inviting.
Taste - Some wheat, mineral water, some clove and pepper with a trace of leafy hops and a modest amount of banana mixed in. Flavors lacking in intensity.
Mouthfeel - Carbonation is quite expressive, maybe overdone, body is middling and slightly chewy. A bit gassy. Still not bad for the style.
Overall - A good an enjoyable pale wheat, just a few tweaks and this can truly be top notch. The ABV is well hidden too as it is at the igher end of the style at 6% ABV.
