Dopeurs feel they need the help of performance enhancing drugs to be competitive and one who “dopes” is also known as a “juicer.” The Dopeur Juicy/Hazy IPA is just that…juicy! This beer offers a slightly creamy mouthfeel thanks to the use of flaked oats and flaked wheat. The bitterness is soft and balanced while the aroma is intense…reminiscent of citrus fruits thanks to the massive use of hops introduced during fermentation. Aromatic, juicy, and refreshing.

It IS massively doped up with juice. Thick coarse foam on the slightly hazy brew in the IPA glass. Flavors of orange or even tangerine are quite distince. Very acidic and verges on the harsh. Long bitter aftertaste with hot oils seemingly on the lips. Garishly fruity with sweet grapefuit peel finish.
Overall this is an interesting but viciously hopped concoction. But OK to sip on for awhile and contemplate why tangerine juice has to be so bitter. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine. Dated 12/09/21.

Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. snifter glass
Price: $3.25
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa, Calif.

Consumed: Feb. 7, 2020

First time I’d seen this in cans, so grabbed it. Didn’t even look at the bottom to see that it was canned the previous day. Was actually still chilled at Trader Joe’s, a rarity. Gave a taster a 3.75 back on March 9, 2019 from their brewery. Back of the can read, “Dopeurs feel they need the help of performance enhancing drugs to be competitive and one who “dopes” is also known as a “juicer.” The Dopeur Juicy/Hazy IPA is just that…juicy! Poured a medium yellow hazy color with four fingers of rocky white head. Lots of fast moving bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect foamy layered lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled Mosaic for sure, probably Amarillo and Simcoe too. Also tangerine, grapefruit, passion fruit, papaya, Juicy Fruit, sugary peach, citrus, Citra, pineapple and orange blossom. Much of the same from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste was not as good as the nose, but still really good. In order got tangerine rind, tangerine peel, Amarillo, orange pulp, passion fruit, papaya, Mosaic, grapefruit, citrus zest, Citra, sugary peach, Juicy Fruit, pineapple, orange blossom and floral. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Damn. Much better than that taster I had. This was excellent. (Overall - 4.25)
