a fine pint of ipa here, but also sort of unremarkable, and i remain a little up and down on these guys despite their overwhelmingly positive reputation, nothing has really blown me away yet, and nothing has been bad, but thats shouldnt be the standard. not sure if this beer changes from batch to batch or not, this is the first time for me. seems partially wheat based, modern on the hop side, but maybe a little full feeling, even without being too malt forward in flavor. the ferment is clean and thats key, especially in a less than totally clear example of the style, and it is on the dry side, so nicely done there, but its also a little generic even though its fruity, yellow peach, white wine, orange and familiar citrus, pleasantly low bitterness too, just enough, and it finishes tidy and even brisk. i think this is sort of an all purpose ipa, everyone who even remotely likes the style should dig it, its not polarizing or radical at all, and its well made. nice with slightly spicy and rich food, but i would think fairly versatile overall too. could be as simple as citra and mosaic or something like that, but its nicely built, seems like a four season brew to me. quite good but not in any way memorable either. good to see some technical excellence here though from these guys!

Draft at BitterCreek. Clear, medium golden body, small head, tons of lacing. Mild hoppy aroma, more piney, but taste goes citrus in a big way. Almost juicy, grapefruit. Sweet, bitter and tangy. Pretty nice effort.
