12oz can purchased at Rocket Market, high atop Spokane's South Hill. No freshness date on the can.
Poured into a can-shaped glass, this was a cloudy, hazy shade of golden amber, with a massive, fluffy white head. Said it had dropped fairly quickly and left quite a bit of lace. Perhaps this is an unfiltered Pilsner.
Mildly citrusy hop Aroma. And that's pretty much it. Not much going on here.
As goes the nose, so goes the taste. This is vaguely pilsner-like in flavor but only just. Taste more like a session IPL, really, if that is a thing.
Light-bodied and clean finishing, as one would expect with something labeled as Pilsner.
I don't know if this had faded a bit due to age, due to the lack of dating on the can, but it strikes me as a fairly uninspired attempt at a Pilsner. With great caned pilsners available, such as pFriem's, I'm not sure I could muster up a reason to justify buying this again.

its cool that these guys are canning now, cartoon looking packaging is a weird look for them, but the beers have been good so far, although this one is a little different as a pils type goes, less european, more malty, and without that crackling crisp lager character i like in this style, perhaps a little more of an autumnal or cool weather take on the style, intentional or not, thats the context i create for myself where i like it best. just a shade deeper in color than most, aroma is slightly bready but more domestic to me, fresh and not at all dusty like the german ones can often be, less minerals too though, less earthiness in general, and seemingly less adherence to any specific constraints or ingredients of the style, this is a little free form, as perhaps the name suggests. the flavor is a little bit basic but also a little bit hoppy as they go, slightly fuller on the grain side to balance, a little bit bitter in the finish, not necessarily noble hops to me, all nice and fresh but less grassy and herbal, more just the bite. i get very little from the lager yeast here, its well integrated but it is without a ton of character, and the beer doesnt get as snappy dry as i hoped it would. i may like this more and more as fall sets in, but on a summery weekend, this wasnt quite the refresher i was after. still, i am glad to have these guys available in the boise market, and this is solid, even if its not quite what i was expecting for the style.

12oz can from Boise Coop. Cloudy golden pour, foamy head settles into patches and thin collar. Full bready, grainy aroma, soft sweetness. Taste is sweet malts, grassy notes, faint lemon. Tiny crisp bite emerges at the finish. Pretty full mouthfeel for a pils.
