Light-bodied Porter with balanced notes of dark chocolate, roast coffee and fresh GoodLot harvest hops. Finishes dry and light and uniquely approachable despite its deep dark colour.

Appearance: Poured with a single figure of head that did not lace or retain. The body is an opaque black which turns slightly brown when lightstruck but reaveals nothing more.
Smell: Chocolate malt and coffee as well as biter hops which is odd for a Porter. Potency is there and the beer didn't need warming.
Taste: There is a clear presence of cascade hops that permeates the beer and seems out of place for a porter where the dark malt tends to be the star. It starts with dark chocolate and turns to bitter coffee, but again the hops are the star here.
Mouthfeel: Transisitioning is good and the aftertaste is mostly clean with only the mild touch of the hops. Carbonation isn't Porter creaming and is a bit more aggressive then expected.
Drinkability: Between light and medium body, which is odd for a Porter, but prefer dark lighter body things to be noted as Porter. Settles down well and is refreshing, but it's an odd indentity with the hopping.
Final Thoughts: I think this is a wet hop porter, and I don't think the style works. The dark bitter malt competes with the hops more then anything. It's also light, but not lager light so it's a weird spot as to when to drink this. I guess maybe the end of winter maybe? I dunno...applaud trying something new but it's not for me.
