32oz crowler filled at the source last Thursday.
Poured into the glass, it looked a deep dark brown, virtually black. When held up to light, it betrayed a very dark rubyish hue. Good sized, creamy looking head that was a color just a bit darker than khaki. Decent lace.
Dark, roasty malt aroma and a peppery, almost rye-like hop bitterness in the nose.
Sweet, mildly chocolatey maltiness at first, then joined by a spicy hoppiness. Lightly dry at the swallow. Seems nicely balanced.
Slightly creamy but also oily and resiny mouth feel.
Nice black ipa. It's hitting the spot after a long day at work. Wish I could find more of this style locally.
