This bottle contains a deceptively smooth Imperial Saison brewed with over one pound of cherries per gallon. We recommend sharing this, but only with the best of friends.

Big sweet and tart cherry flavors borderline medicinal. Earth, funk.

What is this I don't even ...
Good head production and retention. Mostly clear ruby body.
Impressive and confounding aroma, a bit funky, a bit sour, a bit boozy, a bit fruity. It takes a bit to notice the cherries, but they're definitely there. The rye whiskey is also present, but doesn't dominate. It's really quite a complex and rewarding profile.
It's even more confusing on the palate - but again, in a good way. Tannins, cherries, rye whiskey, sweet and sour mash, honey, pear, apple cider (especially on the finish), pepper, lemon, tea. It's delicious and extraordinarily complex, but it's also very, very ... weird. Almost no hint of the sourness or funk from the nose.

Clear, dark amber body; thin, patchy head. An incredible smell; floral and berry-like with a bold fresh cucumber note. Sweet, fruity taste; blueberry and cucumber; a mild spiciness; a tad boozy. Heavy body but without much texture; flat.
Now this is one of the more unique beers I've encountered in a while, especially for a saison. As an imperial version of the style, it actually does mitigates its ABV quite well. It is noticeable but doesn't dominate the picture. The fresh cut cucumber I find especially noteworthy while I attribute the bit of spiciness I taste to the rye barrel aging. Yes, it mildly misses being exceptional in a few categories (e.g., mouthfeel), but overall, this is a beauty.
Poured at 60 °F; no bottling information noted on the bottle.
