Goat Patch Brewing Company started like all great ideas, with the critical elements of good friends with a common passion, sitting around a kitchen table. Before a name, location, recipes or brand identity, we all agreed on a shared set of values: balanced brews, community engagement, and adventure.
Balanced Brews - In an industry that allows for unlimited creative freedom, GPB wants to be known for our balanced variety of brews. Beer is personal and we want folks from all walks of life to find a beer they love while sitting in our taproom.
Community Engagement - One of GPB’s foundational goals is to partner with our Colorado community through philanthropic efforts. Before a business plan, we had a non-negotiable: an exclusive GPB community beer. Monday through Sunday from open to close, any purchase of our It Takes A Tribe Red will directly benefit a local non-profit in our area. Even in our taproom, patrons can get out of their seat and engage in our community.
Adventure - The GPB tribe challenges you to think outside the taproom. Life is a gift and meant to be celebrated. We hope our patrons make life long connections to their fellow neighbors while sharing a pint around our table. Even more, we hope those relationships lead you to take your watering hole on the road. Our custom filled GPB crowlers were meant for biking, hiking, climbing and exploring the great outdoors.

There isn’t a whole lot to the place itself, just a rectangular block in a strip mall with a long wooden bar rail, two rows of tables and high tops behind that, and a row of patio tables outside behind that. They had 12 beers on tap in a variety of styles. The two I tried were pretty good, above average for the style.

Cool little store front-ish brewery in strip shopping center a bit north of downtown. Straight bar opposite the entrance seats about a dozen with as many tables about the room and on the outside patio. They also have an overflow area, but I did not check it out. About 10 beers on tap, the 2 I had were very nice. Friendly service.

Still in town looking down the old Colorado Springs one-two. We’re moving in a northernly direction anyway. We find the strip mall easily enough but it is with a heavy heart that I must report that there are exactly zero goats on premise. No, not a single one. None, son. Wait, they may be inside, no that’s stupid, there’s a pen out front, they would reasonably be chewing cans or tricking a troll or whatever goats do there, I’m sure of it. I feel deceived. And dirty…
Up the ramp and in. It’s a single open room, wider than it is deeper. To the rear of the room, a pieced bowling lane slat wood topped ‘L’ shaped bar, horizontal wood base, and my feet left to dangle (no foot bar). Seating for a dozen on brown cushioned wide wood chairs and 3 shorty stools on the far end. Barback holds a periscope tap tower of 6 & 6 non-descript handles on stainless. Shorty glassware single shelved to both sides, and every size & shape otherwise shelved below the counter with some cooler space on one end, and vertical cupboardry on the other end with swag, growls, & snacky snacks. A pair of 4x8 blackboards above center periscope list tap selections (beer, style, ABV, IBU, pricing for half & full pour, and to go 32oz crowls & 64oz growls), in alt colored chalkings on mountain mural bottomed boards.
Concrete floors, rafter ceilings with ductwork, dark blue wall ends, & a white barback wall. Drop yellow glass lamps tracing the bar, track spots on the boards, and alt caged drop bulbs above the couch there. Kegerator at the end of the bar and a stand-alone hydration station in the other rear corner. Flats in 3 corners, license plates mounted, and local art for sale on the far wall, including that one there (me, pointing) of the Brooklyn Bridge called ‘Dumbo’. It’s funny to see this so far from home. The other wall holds a large logo piece over an end to end benching with 6 shorty 2-seat roundies. 2 rows of tablings across the floor; each with a single long shared hightop and a pair of low 4 seat squares, the order alternating from one row to the other. On the front wall, 2 roll up garage doors opening over the forward exterior deck. Well, one and a half anyway. One of them fully rolls up so you can pass through it and the other is a halvsie with bar counter space on both sides. And 5 tables on the deck where the goats would reasonably be.
This building previously housed the Lincoln Elementary School until (like) just a few years ago. The whole complex is now converted to hold a dozen merchants; both a bakery & a coffee roaster for the kind smells, gymnastics in the old gym (not really a big stretch there), plus a barber, some eateries, and of course a goatless brewery. You really see the what what when you set out to locate the facility’s shared bathrooms. There’s still a staff office, the principal refusing to leave. It’s crazy.
13 taps; a mix of 5 flagship (Blonde Ale, 4%; It Takes a Tribe, Red Ale, 5.6%; Stout, 6.5%; Hazy Unfiltered IPA, 6.4%; Goat Patch IPA, 6.6%), and 8 rotating (Belgian Wit, 4.8%; Brut Rose Pale Ale, 6.8%; Hibiscus Pale Ale, 5.6%; Kettle Sour German Wheat, 3.1%; Goat Patch Punch, orange peel & cherry, 6.8%; Purploid, Blueberry kettle sour, 6.5%; Peaches & Cream Ale, 5.3%; Passion Fruit Hazy Double IPA, 8.1%). They do a taster box of (4) 6oz glasses for $12, but I’ve still got some road time to Denver so I’m playing shortys. I drank the Stout, Goat Patch IPA, & Belgian Wit. They were all good well made beers; I’m calling the Stout out as roast & chocolatey goodness for the win! They seem to be selling a single bottle; Pappy Legba, a 13.8% Imperial Cherry Saison, danger Will Robinson.
Chill house this Tuesday afternoon. Solid stop along the way for a few beers. No goats, and school’s out forever!

Like many brew pubs, the place is fun and appeals to regulars. However, like many, the menu is a question. This place is served by a rotation of food trucks, so on any given visit, you'll have choices that may or may not suit your needs.

Small brewery near Colorado Spring's Old North End. Nice interior with an airy open front with south-facing outdoor seating. Great staff and a nice variety of quality beers.
