This is a fine winter warmer, and it goes great with the decor in the taproom! It's a perfect choice on a cold night, as the traditional clove, cinnamon and nutmeg flavors are there, along with a bit of sweetness and maybe even a little kick from ginger? This is a popular seasonal beer in this part of the country and Woods Boss makes a good one.

Love the label art on this one!
The appearance is clear, but dark amber/ruby red color. Topped with a cap of foamy tan head. Retention is just okay, with some streaky lacing.
Cloves dominate the aroma by far, with a hint of sweet candle wax vanilla, subtle cinnamon and rich bready malt.
Big pop of intense clove upfront. Peppery and minty. Follow by sweet, slightly artificial candlewax-esque vanilla. Hint of cinnamon; pumpernickel bread and brown sugar. Minty and spicy. Ginger..? Tastes like gingerbread cake/fruitcake! Finishes fairly clean, not too sweet. Good mouthfeel and moderate carbonation.

Pretty solid winter warmer. Definitely a spicy one. Tastes sweet and artificial upfront but finishes remarkably smooth.

From Beer Drop. No dating on the can.

It pours a clear deep red/brown with a small head of foam, a little bit of lacing.

The smell, I get cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla, some cloves, brown sugar reminds me more of burnt sugar.

The taste is cinnamon, burnt sugar, hints of vanilla, and here comes the cloves. I could have done without that!

Low end of medium bodied.

A clash of flavours, imho. I blame the cloves.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours brown red with a small off white head. Smells of dark roasted grain and winter spices. Tastes of chocolate and winter spices, nice balance. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.

Upping my original rating a little after having it again. I definitely get a more balanced profile of traditional winter warmer malt/light bitter but the sweetness is more clearly defined by their adjuncts so it does taste unique. I think I'd grow to enjoy this a lot
