This one surprised me, and not in the best way. I got a ton of the barrel flavor and very little of the base beer flavor, and on top of that I even guessed wrong on the type of barrel used (it's wine). I would not have known this was a saison despite it saying so on the menu, as they could have aged pretty much anything inside and had the barrel flavor dominate. Maybe it was just the barrel they used. They make good saisons here as a general rule, so I'd like to do a side by side tasting of the original and the barrel aged versions and see what the underlying profile is. But this one didn't quite hit the mark.

Pours a dark purple brown color with a small tan head and no lacing
S: Lots of strong grape, red wine and caramel mix with a decent tartness
T: A nice tart sourness followed by caramel and red wine, a bit one dimensional but tasty
F: Smooth lighter carbonation
O: Solid, sour saison.
