Clear gold in color with a thumb of head that disappears fast.
Smell is grainy and grassy/vegetal. Borders on nice, but somehow misses.
Taste carries the nose forward. I really get the vegetal and grass on this. A sweetness sneaks in almost lager like.
Feel is thinnish with a grassy quick finish. Carbonation is medium.
Nope, not what I'd describe as a good session ale. I wouldn't revisit.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. An LCBO purchase for $3 CDN per can. Review from notes.
Appearance - a mostly. Lear, rich golden color. A slight amount of haze and two fingers of head fizzles off quickly, leaving a small soapy ring, no lacing left behind.
Smell - not much of a nose, although some grassy and grainy aromas.
Taste - clean and grainy with a touch of bitterness. Some grassy flavors mixed in. Decent brew, not terribly exciting.
Mouthfeel - soft bodied, carbonation is light, easy to drink.
Overall - a decent if unremarkable summer time brew.

473 mL can from the LCBO; "18068" stamped on the base (my guess is Jun 8 2018, though I guess it could also be some sort of ordinal date, i.e. the 68th day of 2018). Served barely chilled.
This session ale has a clear, golden-blonde body that is packed with streams of effervescence; one finger of frothy white foam gathers atop before dissipating within two minutes' time. A smooth, narrow collar and filmy cap sustain themselves for considerably longer, but absolutely no lacing is generated; looks plain. Not much to say about the nose, either - it smells fairly sweet, with cereal grains and bready notes accented by mild suggestions of grassy, leafy hops. As someone has already pointed out (much more succinctly), this reminds me more of a pale lager than an ale.
Inoffensive and unremarkable, though the ale yeast traits do start to come through as it warms up. Notes of red apple skin are apparent, alongside a sweet, cereal grain backbone that largely dominates the flavour profile. Hints of bready sweetness join in by mid-sip, with the pale malts continuing to overshadow the hints of grassy hops that eventually crop up towards the finish. Light in body, with middling carbonation levels that start off crisp, but soften considerably as I gulp my way through the glass, resulting in a smoother, flatter mouthfeel as the session goes on.
Final Grade: 3.28, a mediocre C+. Is Clear Lake's Session Ale a bad beer? Certainly not. Is it interesting and/or good enough to actually be of interest to most BAs? Probably not - the truth is that it's a pretty bland beer, with few, if any distinguishing characteristics. I also feel that this beer would best be categorized as an American Blonde Ale, rather than an APA (for their part, the brewery calls it a "golden ale", which in my experience is more or less equivalent to "blonde ale"). Tick this one if you must, but it's not a brew I'll be returning to in the near future - I mean, just in Muskoka alone, there are so many other options that blow this one out of the (clear lake) water.
