Sampling a cold crowler of this beer. Been in my fridge a few years. Probably 3 years at this point, crowler is undated, but brewery closed in 2024. :( remember really enjoying several drafts of this one.
The beer pours a dark cola brown with no light passing through my glass. A dense tan creamy head foams up about 0.5 cm and fades gradually to a thin edging. I do get some scattered lattice on the glass every time I take a sip or swirl the glass.
Aroma is some sweet orange citrus notes, mixing with milk chocolate, mild roasted malt notes and some coffee grounds. No hop character or ABV hints on the nose of this beer. Surprisingly this smells a lot like I remembered it from draft at the brewery. Very much orange chocolate candy from Christmastime, but not cloying or overly sweet.
First sip reveals a medium body with smooth texture and fine, sort of prickly carbonation.
Flavor is what the nose advertises with some milk chocolate, orange citrus (not from hops), sort of sweet orange notes, and a good bit of sweetened coffee. Never any hop character and the sweet orange is what lingers after each sip. No booziness anywhere even at 8%. Sad the brwery closed as I liked most of what I had tried from their location.
Id gladly drink more of this tasty beer.
