Coedo Brewing in Japan originally reached out with a mutual affinity for hop driven beers. We decided it was best to unite in friendship to make beer.

The result, Tamayura, is an ardently refreshing, slightly tart, hair raiser. We laid down a frame of cracker dry malt, splashed 22 liters of 100% yuzu juice into the pool, dry hopped with Hallertau Blanc and Amarillo, and a few days before packaging, we grabbed all the citrus fruits we could manage - oranges, grapefruits, lemons, yuzu - and got to zesting, steeping the beer over the weekend before its migration into kegs.

We threw Tamayura on draft yesterday, a perky aroma giving way to vinous hop character and a cutting juiciness. Allow it to exhilarate you in between the darker, heavier hitting options this holiday season.

Basically Daisy Cutter with lots of yuzu juice. Wow. If they canned this, I’d buy all of it. Nothing crazy here, really just a great, dank hop pale ale with a piercing shot of bright citrus. A great idea, and one I hope they use with some other fruits down the line, maybe ones more accessible than yuzu is in Chicago. I could see this being a great series....
