32oz crowler filled at the Lincoln Ave brewery. Dark caramel colored ale with some reddish hues and a thick & foamy tan head. Big malty aroma with a hefty earthy hop presence. Nice flavors with complex notes of caramel, toffee, vanilla, toasted grain, bread crust, and earthy hops. Full body, ample carbonation, alcohol is warming but not overly present in flavor, finishes pretty well balanced. It's fun to try a barley wine from a brewery that I go to for hop flavors. This is a good representation of the style with some good flavors and I appreciate that they didn't think outside of the box on this one. Glad to try it!

Tasted in a Rastal Teku from a howler on December 6, 2017. Look is clear ruby amber with a thick tan head and sticky lacing. Smell and taste in dark dried fruit and sweet malt. Feel is smooth and remarkably drinkable for an 8.7% barley wine.
