Had on tap. A classic dipa, with an oily twist. The hops exude classic dipa falvors, grapefruit, pineapple, pine, and guava. Just breathing this one in is rewarding. The taste is rounded out and balanced with malt backing, hop spice finish, and a oily texture that holds things together. Not too bitter, not too sweet, just right

On-draught @ Half Acre Balmoral.
One of the more balanced imperial IPAs at this high an ABV I've encountered in the last 1-2 years.
Ripe, tropical, fruity, delicious. Who'd know it was 8.7% ABV?
My estimation of Half Acre's quality seems to rise with each beer of theirs I try.
Standout work in one of the most oversaturated styles in existence. A must-try imperial IPA.
(To nitpick: it's overcarbonated, and could be more pungent, complex, and deep).
B / GOOD

Notes from Half Acre: “We fermented this beer with a different yeast strain, known for its fruit forward ester output. Alongside toasted rice in the mash and dramatic additions of Mosaic, Ekuanot, and Idaho 7 throughout its time in stainless, the finished beer is a well rounded, boldly tropical slice.”

A very hazy golden color (old school DIPA-hazy, not a milkshake) and a sudsy light tan head. Absolutely gorgeous. The dank hops on the nose include the requisite citrus notes (pithy grapefruit, juicy oranges, pineapple), and there’s also an earthy component that is really intriguing. The toasted rice maybe?
The dank hop notes simply wallop the palate - there is no relief from the waves of citrus (courtesy of the Mosaic hops), but they also don’t overwhelm the mouthfeel. There’s a slightly oily feel that stops this well short of Bitter Bombville.
I love Half Acre, and I absolutely adore this old school DIPA. Exceptionally well done, IMHO.
