We added the Riwaka hop to our very small list of Double Daisy Cutter variants; a hop very deserving of full focus in a bigger version of our classic pale ale.
The vibe and soul of this beer encapsulates everything we love about brewing: raw, unfiltered and authentic expression of dynamite raw materials.

16oz can, 05.13.2020, poured into a Half Acre "occult" snifter glass.
The beer pours a hazy orange color, amber hues with a foamy white head, good retention and nice striped lacing. The aroma is pleasant, lots of dank, piney hop, herbal and with a strong spice note, very green and raw, soft citrus, tropical puree with a nice cereal grain backbone. The flavors are good, lots of dank bitter hops, earthy, resinous, spice forward, lots of weedy and grassy character, pine, citrus peel but it brightens up with a nice mango character, orange juice with a nice floral bouquet on a doughy pale grain base. The mouthfeel is good, coating, lively medium body that is on the heavier side that finishes easily with a creamy feel but a dry bite.
Verdict: A very nice IPA from Half Acre. Riwaka is a hop that I'm coming around to, similar to Mosaic in that has a very distinctive earthy character that really makes for a nice beer.
