It’s a hazy. delightful aroma, with peach purée and stone fruit notes. Low bitterness and a fruit forward finish. Tasty as all get out. I enjoyed this one!

16oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of fluffy foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of pine, orange peel, toasted caramel and malt. Sweet citrusy taste with orange and grapefruit. Nice toasted caramel backbone with a piney bitterness.

Undated can into pint glass Pours a hazy light gold with a brief off-white head. Good lacing. Initial impression is citrus, pineapple, grapefruit, lemon, and pine. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. Finish fades to a slightly dank, bitter citrus. Overall, it's OK but I won't revisit.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 101722
Poured into a Tree House glass a very nice cloudy yellow color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger off-white head, which leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, peach, guava), pretty nice kinda pineyness/diesel like. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, peach, guava), pretty nice kinda pineyness/diesel like. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty beer.

16oz can dated 10/17/22 RUN WITH IT into a shaker pint glass.
L: Pours hazed light gold w a thin, flat white head w VG retention, low carbo, med-thick lacing w full sheeting & banding.
S: Caramel, light citrus, pineapple, fresh orange, melon & rind, a hint of bread, light yeast, gently earthy w a trace of danksmanship, Wrigley's juicy fruit chewing gum.
T: Fruity, sweet wheat malts, orange, melon w rind, light citrus pith, a citrus zest linger. Very nimble flavors, no masking, nothing too heavy.
F: A touch of a cola feel then fairly smooth w a med body that has some thickness, a lightly dry finish and a gently persistent linger.
O: An extremely well balanced, very pleasant tasting & feeling American IPA. Not a sipper and is fairly EZ drinking. I truly enjoy it and it is excellent in its style.

Canned 10/17/22; drank 11/20/22 @ the Yarchives.
Mostly opaque orange/yellow appearance.
A violent pour yielded a big bright white head; strong, frothy lace.
Grapefruit peel, orange citrus & fresh cut grass notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Grapefruit peel & lemon flavors up front; dry grass notes on the finish.
Dry, tangy & not super pleasant, but it's a big flavor. Not for me.

Hazy? Hell ya', pale yellow, nice thick frothy white head, that lingers and forms foamy islands, lotsa lacing. It's aromatic alright, smells like my morning fruit smoothie, orange, pineapple and mango. Doesn't taste nearly as good as my breakfast smoothie, but the again, itsa beer. Thin, nicely carbonated. Good thing I bought one. Worst beer I've had from Half Acre.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $3.49. Canned on 11/22/21, so this is just over 3 months old.
Look: Pours out a slightly hazy light orange color with a big, fluffy off-white head. The head receded but slowly and there is a small head retained along with nice sticky lacing.
Smell: It smells mainly of citrus and tropical fruit along with a bit of grassiness. I get notes of orange, mango, and pineapple. A lot of orange zest on the finish. Secondary notes of bubblegum and/or Juicy Fruit gum. It smells nice.
Taste: It's dry, has a lingering bitter finish with lots of orange zest and pith. The finish is a bit grassy and peppery also.
Feel: Nicely carbonated and has a slightly creamy mouthfeel.
Overall: It's good. Like usual, Half Acre does not disappoint. The finish on this beer is more bitter than I expected. For an American IPA, it definitely fits the bill. I'm not really sure how I feel about strata hops in general. It's interesting, but perhaps not my ideal hop of choice. At 6.3% ABV, it's very drinkable.

LAVA RUN India Pale Ale ~ with this Strata focused IPA we look to the Volcano in two ways:
First, the volcano captures the thing we’re always trying to discuss: Nature as all. It’s tranquil, soft and welcoming. It’s also ferocious and about to tear you limb from limb. The kids get to jiggle to Jerry’s guitar, but there’s always the thump of the heaviest doom tones over the ridge. That’s the best.
Second, Kiddie Land. Did you grow up in Chicago? There used to be an amusement park in Melrose Park, IL called Kiddie Land. At one point there was a ride called Lava Run. We’ve discovered some real love for Kiddie Land – families packing up and heading out for a day on the rides. Melting pot fun for everyone. How all this connects to a smoker IPA from Half Acre is unclear, but lucky us that we get to wind all this up inside of cans of beer.

The flavor is sweet wheat malts with soft fruit and a decent resiny bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, a nice hazy IPA.
