I had this 11/6/25 @ Half Acre's taproom.
Black appearance.
Minimal dark tan head; almost no lacing remained.
Dark chocolate, dark cherry & strong wood notes in the nose.
Medium thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Big dry wood & dark chocolate flavors up front; mild dark cherry & booze heat notes on the finish.
A bruiser of a beer, in a good way. I wish they'd release the 'raw dog' version of Benthic every year!

Had on tap. Pitch black pour with a smaller dark brown head. Aromas from the barrels are intoxicating: toasted oak, rye, bourbon, molasses, and anise meeting chocolate, subdued vanilla and a hit of caramel. Taste adds marzipan and reduces the anise, more caramel running through too. Smooth, boozy, rich, and deep
