This is a rich, malt focused beer brewed in collaboration with Black Lung Brewing. Expect flavors and aromas reminiscent of dark toasted bread, powdered chocolate, and dark fruits like raisins and plums. Prost!

Dark brown shimmering body with a large beige head. Dark fruit, toasted caramel malt, toast, and a hint of nuts in the nose. Taste has some dark cocoa and herbal hops in the finish, otherwise similar to the nose, more bready I would say. Feel is medium bodied, smooth, full, body is rich while sneaky rugged on the finish.

Pours a dark, dark brown color verging on almost black. Nice thick tan head that dissipates pretty quickly leaving little to no residual head.
Aroma has notes of rich dark bread, bready malts, some light dark fruit notes, and some light herbal hop notes.
Taste follows the nose with notes of Dark bready malts, some dark fruit notes, cocoa and chocolate, and a pronounced and spicy hop bitterness on the back end. Very light hint of sweetness as well as a touch of citrus? Yea, its definitely giving off this orange - cocoa interplay.
Feel is medium bodied, but hefty, smooth and creamy. Moderate carbonation.
Overall a very nice doppelbock.

16oz tallboy poured into Abbey Saint Sixtus goblet.
canned on date is: 9/8/21.
Appearance: dark brown bodied beer with khaki head that stacks up to 3 full fingers tall after a vigorous pour. spotty lacing all over the glass. decent head retention.
Smell: fresh toasted bread with dry chocolate and fruity notes.
Taste: caramel malty sweetness and freshly toasted bread are the prominent flavors here. general "fruity" lager yeast. Hint of dark fruits. Hint of earthy hops. Finishes with a dry cocoa powder note. nice complexity that keep it interesting in this malty german beer.
Mouthfeel: medium-bodied lager that drinks very smooth with no detectable abv. Moderate/medium low carbonation levels that are well dialed in for this beer style. Creamy carbonation and creamy overall texture of the beer. Lightly dry finish adds a nice contrast.
Overall: Roaring table coming out of now where with another great beer. They really do traditional beer styles quite well at Roaring table. This is the 3rd example of this for me with this brewery. This is one of the higher rated doppelbock's that I have drank. It will hold its own against the big name biers from Germany from this particular beer style.

Purchased at the brewery on 09.22.21, canned 09.08.21. Poured into my tall Becher.
L -- Clear, deep, dark chestnut brown with ruby highlights and a good, if a little fast-settling, light tan head.
S -- Light herbal hops with earthy, clay-like malts and some light DMS back.
T -- Sweetish, bready and earthy malts -- even a touch smoky. A touch of toffee and chocolate with a spicy blend of hops and alcohol in the finish. Spiciness continues through the aftertaste with a mellow citrus note.
M -- Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with a robust body.
O -- A great, fresh rendition of the style, if not a bit Ami-Hoppy -- but nothing overwhelming. It does take away from the richness of the malts and a clean lager finish. Quite delicious, nonetheless.

Canned 9/8/21; drank 9/19/21 @ the Yarchives.
Semi-opaque brown/orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a HUGE, noisy tan head (careful pouring!); thick, frothy lace.
Brown sugar, acorn, caramel & faint fresh earth notes in the nose.
Creamy, medium thick mouthfeel.
Fresh earth & caramel flavors up front; acorn & cream notes on the finish. Faint booze heat emerged as this warmed.
Robust, flavorful but easy to drink; this is a fine example of the style.
Nice work, Roaring Table!
