Floor-malted Bohemian pilsner supports caramel and roasted malts in this rich and spry dark lager. Expect impressions of cocoa powder, toffee, and cookie dough on a crisp and snappy body.

Pours a dark cola brown color. Completely opaque due to how dark the beer is, but you can see around the edges that it does have excellent clarity. there is a robust, frothy two finger tan head on the beer that lingers for a moment and then dissipates. No residual head remains outside of a thin ring of foam along the outside of the top of the beer. Aroma has notes of soft bready malts, some cocoa, a touch of pumpernickel bread, with just a hint of roasted malts.

Taste follows the nose with notes of bready malts, hints of cocoa, pumpernickel bread, some slight hints of rye, and a lovely mild roastiness. There is a slight dark fruit note, but it is not really strong or all that noticeable. The flavor is really spot on for what I expect from a Czech dark lager. Feel is light and easy drinking, but does not have that crispness that you would get from a Czech dark lager - there is a bit more to it. Moderate carbonation. Semi-drier finish.

Overall this is spot on for a Czech dark lager and a wonderful beer. I sincerely hope this is a regular offering from Roaring Table.

Dark brownish black in the glass, ample head measuring three fingers plus, flecks of spotty lace as it subsides. Patchy surface skim.

Aroma is roasty and mellow all the way, subtle carob, reminds me of an English or Irish Stout.

Taste is roasty, mild char, bakers chocolate, dry finish, very mild bitterness.

Medium bodied with some creaminess, as well as some astringency from the roast malt. Clean finish, dry roasty aftertaste.

Overall this is a nice one, well done.

Had this one on draft at the taproom; enjoyed it, but didn't focus closely -- making up for that with some fresh cans straight from the brewery. Canned 12-06-22. Poured into a short Maß, for a change.

L -- Clear, deep dark chestnut with ruby highlights and a dense and creamy tan head that holds up well.

S -- Earthy malts and mild dark cherry notes. Roasted malts and herbal hops with warming.

T -- Mellow roasted malt with lightly tart, dark fruit on the back of the palate, some very light bready sweetness balancing the roasty astringency and tart fruitiness -- there's a mellow cocoa character in the finish and aftertaste with warming.

F -- Mouthfeel is soft to dry with a light-robust body.

O -- Delicious dark lager without relying heavily on roasted malt and astounding at 4.6 ABV.

Canned 12/6/22; drank 12/18/22 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque dark brown appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice tan head; strong lace.

Root beer, cream & medium roast coffee bean notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Medium roast coffee bean, cream & root beer flavors.

Nice winter sipper. I'd have another!

Had on tap. Very dark brown with black tones mixed in, khaki head with foamy blobs for lacing. Smell and taste have the same flavorings: roasted malted, heavily toasted caramel, earth, slight nuttiness and cocoa dusted subtle yeast. Taste has more roast and nuttiness, nose more caramel and cocoa. Body is smooth and warm but also languid for style, more malt driven too. Good for early winter or late fall
