16oz can served in a curvy Monhegan pint glass. Dated 02/18/25. Picked it up in Illinois last month.
Pours dark amber-brown, generous head on the pour with little retention, settles into a 1-2mm uneven cap with a little bit taller ridge around the edge. Smell is very smokey, very nutty. Date sweetness, gives me a strong BBQ vibe.
Taste is earthy and nutty, strong toasty bitterness, almost a burnt nuts kind of vibe. Sweetness comes across in a more wet woody way, which is weird. Dates or raisins are still there. Less of a BBQ vibe.
Mouthfeel is light, smooth, dry. Overall, pretty good, definitely on the smoky side.

Clear reddish-brown, small khaki head. Aroma has a hint of smoke and warm dark bread. Smoke wasmore noticeable in the flavor, a hint of fruit. It seemed bit thin.

2-18-25 canning (a coincidence only I can appreciate).
L -- Clear, deep cola color with a dense, long-lasting, tan head that leaves good lacing.
S -- Mellow smokiness in the nose. Lightest of bready malts.
T -- Smoky, lightly phenolic up front. Light breadiness and a touch of milk chocolate back. Phenols are stronger in the finish, but not distracting. Aftertaste of peppery alcohol and a light hint of roasted malts. Light stone fruit character and woodiness are more present with warming. There's also a light ash (ashen?) character present from the mid-palate to the aftertaste.
F -- Mouthfeel is smooth to dry with a medium-robust body.
O -- This Rauch from RT is definitely heavier on the smoked malt from previous renditions they've made. I wish there was a little more malt to the backbone to add more dimension to the beer, but it's definitely drinkable -- IF you like Rauchbier. If you haven't ventured into the style this would not be a good introduction; it will probably not make a great impression on you and could turn you off from the style.

Brewed in collaboration with Chicago Culinary Kitchen.
Canned 2/18/25; drank 3/9/25 @ the Yarchives.
Mostly see-through dark orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a huge, noisy khaki head; frothy tree-rung lacing remained.
Smoked bacon & mild honeyed wheat notes in the nose.
Sticky medium mouthfeel.
Candied bacon & campfire smoke flavors.
Sweet & sticky; also VERY smoky. An interesting mess that was a bit tough to finish.
