12 oz can 2/19 can date. Poured black with a two finger tan head with a slight blue tinge. Fair amount of lacing.

Nose is a mostly flat mineral aroma with slight touch of blueberry coming through, dried unsweetened prune and alcohol.

Mouth is semi viscous with a touch of blueberry, a mineral taste, port wine and an alcohol heat finish which lingers with slight bitterness.

Not terrible and drinkable but the brew just doesn't come together exactly right. With a little tweaking this could be a bomb I think. The can was over a year old so to be fair it wasn't fresh.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 2/1/19, had 4/1/20.

Pours a mostly opaque dark brown, with a quarter inch foamy head and light, foamy cling. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, light blueberries, light graham, faint lactose. Flavors of chocolate, malt, vanilla, light blueberries- a little more as it warms, some lactose, some graham in the finish and aftertaste. Smooth, a good full body, well carbonated.

Not bad overall, but the star of the show only makes a brief appearance and the graham is fairly subtle, too.

Great look and smell. Tastes nothing like blueberry or cobbler, mostly graham cracker and dark chocolate. Pretty thick and full bodied. Decent non BA stout and worth picking up a 4 pack, but don't expect blueberry.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that quickly died down, leaving a narrow collar around the edge of the glass and some specks of bubbles on the surface.
S: Light aromas of blueberries and dark malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of dark malts and chocolate with notes of blueberries and hints of graham crackers. Unlike a cobbler, only a slight bit of sweetness is perceptible. The blueberry flavors start to become stronger as the beer begins to warm up.
M: It feels nearly full-bodied and slick on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this beer looked like it could have used more in the way of some of the ingredients to make the blueberries a little more noticeable, and you need to let it really warm up to make them prominent. In any event it was extremely drinkable considering its strength as any traces of alcohol were well hidden from the taste.

Undated can into pint glass. Pours a dark bluish-purple-brown with a kind of yellowish head. (OMG what have I gotten myself into??) Initial impression is chocolate - wait, no, there's a definite transition to blueberries; from cocoa to dark fruits. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy, alcohol is extremely well hidden. Finish tends heavily toward the dark fruit end of the spectrum - with a cloying, odd aftertaste. I have loved all things Foreign Objects thus far, but this one is not my cuppa tea.

Look: Black, pours thick and purplish brown. Small, rapidly disappearing grey-brown head.
Smell: Dark chocolate, graham crackers, cinnamon, coffee, caramel, roasted malt, blueberry, booze.
Taste: Lots of roasted malt, opening up to chocolate, coffee, plum. Finishes with sour citrus, blueberries, sweet caramel, hop bitterness, and lingering alcohol.
Feel: Thick, creamy, and mouth-coating, almost like a viscous wine.
Overall: This is a heavy, intensely flavorful, big beer. Really nice to sip on.

16 oz can poured into a snifter.

Appearance
Near black. No light penetration. No head.

Nose
Cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, espresso, roasted barley, caramel, tobacco, blackberry, and blueberry.

Taste
Dark chocolate syrup, cocoa, roasted barley, dark roasted coffee, and caramel. Vanilla and hints of cinnamon. Light molasses and tobacco. Suggestions of blueberry and blackberry jam.

Mouthfeel
Medium-plus bodied, creamy, silky, chewy, sticky, and lightly sweet. No warming effect so I'm skeptical about the 12%...

Overall
Creamy, smooth, and hides the 12% well. I wouldn't be able to pick out the blueberry if the can didn't tell me.

Exciting! An imperial stout by a brewery mostly known, up to this point, for IPAs! This is a big ol' dark beer brewed with oats, rye, lactose, graham cracker crumbles (beurre noisette graham cracker crumbles aka "pan-fried graham cracker," if we're being extra-fancy and accurate to the can description) and blueberry purée. Let's cut to the chase and analyze this beast.

Pours an immensely-deep and dense dark-brown color with zero light penetration. The head builds up to about a finger when hard-poured, though it does have nice legs in spite of its small stature. Slight lace and a slightly-rerousable head. Nice stuff.

The nose is straight-up alcoholic blueberry pie. God damn did they nail the concrescence of blueberry and imperial stout threads here, at least from the scent alone. Reminds me a lot of Bunker/Interboro's Deep Stax imperial blueberry maple flapjack stout, for sure. Strong elements of blueberry, blackberry, grape jam and bready depth with some earthy rye and oatmeal as well. Definitely maltier than fruity, to be honest, but the dark fruit and berry notes are there for sure, lending some necessary depth to the proceedings. Dark chocolate/baker's cocoa and more blackberry as it warms. Love it.

Each sip brings my palate wave upon wave of chocolate-y, biscuit-y goodness and immense blueberry, blackberry and blackcurrant flavors with a slight hit of rye spice, red grape and earthy undertones. Super good balance with an appropriate heaviness to it. The fruity flavors are strong upfront but seem to be tempered right in the transition to the mid-palate by a fierce chocolate-y, roasty malt character that lingers until the end. Slightly more fruit with a sweet, nearly tangy note as each sip finishes. Awesome stuff.

The feel is well-rounded and chewy, but it does lean a little on the lighter end of things for a 12% stout. I think this mostly has to do with the fruit addition and how the sugar ferments out. I still get a lot of the blueberry flavor, but the finish does seem drier than expected, with less lingering quality than I'm used to for this size stout. Maybe that's the trade-off, but it is what it is. This is an excellent beer with a great treatment of the adjuncts it uses. It doesn't taste like blueberry cobbler, but it's the closest a stout will likely get to that concept. For that, it's worthy of praise!
