The glass is always fuller on the other side. In this case, you've managed to wander down Yonder; where dark roasty notes are balanced perfectly with a rich & smooth body.

473 mL can from the LCBO; I can't find a canning date, but I bought this a while ago so I know it's not super-fresh. Served barely chilled.
Pours a brownish-black cola colour; dark but not quite opaque, as holding it to a bright light reveals a garnet red hue. Nearly two fingers of foamy, light tan-coloured head rises and falls within three or four minutes, leaving behind a thin cap and collar. Some spotty lace is also scattered onto the glass; looks normal enough. Boilerplate aroma of roasted grains, caramelized sugars and light cocoa, with faint hints of dried dark fruits.
A decent oatmeal stout; definitely on the lighter side, but it's well-balanced and tastes nice enough. Hints of caramel, prune and date complement the roasted malts, which impart notes of dark chocolate, weak coffee and light ash. Earthy bitterness and ash persist into a roasty aftertaste that trends dry-ish. Light in body, with meek carbonation that limply nudges the surface of the palate; fair drinkability.
Final Grade: 3.57, a B grade. Oatmeal stouts are a style that I have always appreciated, going all the way back to my first pint of Sam Smith's, circa 2011. That fondness makes it difficult for me to be overly critical, which works to the benefit of Prince Eddy's Yonder. This is unimpressive for the style, but it also doesn't do anything terribly wrong... it's just your standard, everyday, ho-hum sort of stout. It's light, it's a little dry, it's not trying to do anything fancy; it is what it is (apologies to Frankie D for ripping off his Steelback slogan). Knowing that this can is relatively old, I'd be willing to give it another shot at some point, but there is nothing here to suggest that this is much better than average.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From their Cold Rush Mixed Pack at the Huron Church Rd. LCBO in nearby Windsor. Canned September 30/25. My 10th beer from the Picton, Ontario brewery, and 3rd for 2026. With Sundae the cat's explicit delight...
