Poured from 750mL clear bottle into a tulip. This is the 2022 version bottled 2/9/23.
Appearance: salmonberry-pink hue with a clear body and nice effervescence, and a finger of frothy white foam that subsided kinda quickly. The color is really attractive, though.
Smell: a very light funk with a good oak character that is not at all overdone, and a lovely grape-iness that manages to be dry and fruity without being vinous. Really well done.
Taste: balance is the name of the game here. It's a tiny bit sweet, but not too much. There's a little bit of acidity, but not too much. The oak adds a little astringency and vanilla character, and the grapes, again, are fruity without being overly vinous. As it warms, the fruit gets a little more freshness to it; this is really a "wow" beer for me.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a moderate carbonation and nice fizziness. "Creaminess" is not really this beer's thing, but the fizz is nice with the lightly tart zip of the flavor.
Overall: really, really, really good. Very well executed, well balanced; just a delight to drink.
