Amazing how close to style Nasu Kogen's English Ale is. I tend to favour a good English Ale and I would like to favour this one again. (Of the Top 50 rated English Ales, I've had 20 and 17 have been above the average; so call it bias, if you will.)
This English Ale is above average for Looks and Smells, but barely. While foam retention and lace is good enough to qualify, they could be more lively. Smells seem classic, just not enough nutty prominence. Tastes are extremely well-balanced; the sweet malt and lingering hops are one. Medium-mouthed and buttery.
As for my very good Overall Hugs, Nasu Kogen deserves it. I wish I had time to visit them but it is a day trip from Tokyo. Some unusual brews at Kogen, but as important are some really mouth-watering photos from their restaurant. They clearly brew for their food and this is a combined art. Their website could have more than pretty photos (like an English translation button), but for the next few days all I want to find is two more of their brews.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
