Cafecito, or Cuban coffee, More than just an espresso, a well-made cafecito has sweet crema floating over strong espresso coffee. Despite its name, crema has nothing to do with cream, it's actually foam made from sugar that's been thoroughly beaten with a splash of coffee. Many don't realize that it's the technique for making the crema, not the type of coffee beans used that makes the coffee Cuban.

650ml bottle, dated 10.30.17, poured into a 14oz snifter glass.
The beer pours a deep black color, cola brown hues with a finger high khaki head that has moderate retention and yields a few spots of lace. The aroma is pleasant, strong roast, light coffee, chocolate, rich grains and light acidity with some lingering stone fruits. The flavors are good, strong roast, a bit acrid with some coffee profile, dark bittersweet chocolate and rich grains. The mouthfeel is good, heavy full body, smooth with a nice lively prickle of carbonation and an easy finish.
Verdict: A nice imperial stout from Atlantic Beach Brewing. The roast is perhaps a bit strong and there isn't a ton of depth in the beer behind it, or perhaps it's masked by how harsh the roast comes across. That being said, it's a pleasant beer and one that was a nice sipper.
