Cask. Clear copper. Dense white head provides creamy lacing.
A rich malt and English fruity hop aroma which both continue into the flavour. Sweet.
A beautiful cask conditioned feel.
A ramped up Tiger ale.

On cask at recent 'spoonsfest. Bready and whisky nose. Tastes bready with some vanilla and toffee. Not sweet enough to coem across as fruity? Becomes somewhat spicy, almost oniony, but always seems bready.

Handpump into a dimpled pint mug at the Fighting Cocks in Kingston, UK.
A: Clear amber body under a 1/2" of tight tan foam. Nice retention, solid lace. Attractive.
S: Smells very sweet, with caramel, toffee, creme brulee, and some straight toasted malt. Interesting, and enticing.
T: Wow, that's straight caramel. Seriously, this tastes like the filling of a Cadbury Caramello.. Lovely burned sugar. Long, sweet finish. Crazy, but a bit bit much - I'd like some hops to balance the sweetness.
M: Sticky medium body, moderately lively carbonation. Very lively for cask.
O: If balance is your thing, avoid this beer. If you're curious about drinking an ESB that tastes like a great candy bar, then give it a shot. I enjoyed it, but certainly didn't feel the need to order another pint.
Cheers!

Per the Real Ale Festival Guidebook - "Our head brewer originally developed this special recipe in 1999 in celebration of Everards 150 years as a family business. This ale takes it lead from Everards most successful product - Tiger Best Bitter. It captures all the character and subtlety of the English-grown ingredients like Maris Otter Barley and Fuggles and Challenger Hops. The ale is a rich copper colour and the well-balanced taste embodies a subtle yet complex combination of malt and hop flavours."
5% ABV per the guidebook:
On Cask - Imperial pint at Wetherspoon's at Heathrow airport, April 25, 2009. The bartender stated that this beer was specially brewed for the Real Ale Fest that was happening in London while we were there.
Appeared a nice copper color with a minimal white head that was not retained. Seemed to be typical of cask ale's in the UK.
The aroma was solid and consistent, but nothing overwhelming or overpowering. Aroma was malt with a hint of some spices.
Taste was well balanced between the malt and hops, but also noted some fruit flavor.
The beer had a medium body, smooth, clean and easy to drink. Low carbonation could have been due to the cask. Seemed a little weaker than expected, but overall a decent beer. Overall, I think that this beer is a solid ESB, nothing spectacular about it, but worth a try.
