A 330ml can with a BB of March 2019. Purchased from the Wine Shop in Knaresborough. Brewed in collaboration with Oscar Blues from Colorado, this is described as an Extra Brut Pilsner fermented with a Bavarian yeast strain and finished with Champagne yeast.
A: Poured into a tulip. Can-conditioned. A rich, hazy golden hue with fine suspended sediment and modest carbonation. Produces a large head of frothy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before collapsing and dissipating.
S: Aroma of crisp, understated hops with hints of grass, subtle herbs, faint floral notes, earthiness, lager yeast and mild grainy malt. Very clean and rather nice.
T: Tastes of mild grassy hops with notes of light herbs, floral hints, leafiness, earthiness, lager yeast and grainy malt. Very crisp and dry, followed by a delicate bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and bone-dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body for the style. Mildly astringent. Aftertaste of bitter grassy hops, earthiness, yeast notes and grain.
O: A pretty good effort; crisp, grassy and clean. Looks OK, shame about the head retention. Aroma and flavour showcase subtle noble hop character underpinned by earthy yeast and mild grain. Decent body. Drinkable and refreshing - would be good on a hot day. Worth sampling.
