a neat grain forward and complex amber with a lot of character, a unique, almost saison-esque fermentation profile, and another delicious beer from these guys, kind of drinks like a biere de garde with the relationship between the malt and the yeast. its clearish, light copper colored, and definitely undersold when described as a simple amber. bright and lively headed in the little glass they use at their taproom for it, and with a cool agricultural sort of aroma, harvesty and autumnal to me, biscuit and honey. lightly belgian or french on the yeast side, a soft and vinous ester through it and some mild fruitiness, raisin, and white pepper, but this is extremely subtle. minerals and baked goods in the taste, but this isnt overly heart and still drinks oddly dry and delicate for how outwardly malty it is, seems very mature and patiently fermented, cooler on the ferment too maybe, as the yeast is so reserved. i love the balance here and the old world nature of this, but how expertly its put together. very unique as ambers go, i was delighted with this one!
